Former Dutch Cabinet Minister Joins International Advisory Council
Washington, D.C. (November 12, 2008) – Ambassador Laurens Jan Brinkhorst, a former Dutch cabinet minister and former member of the European and Netherlands parliaments, joins APCO Worldwide’s International Advisory Council (IAC), Margery Kraus, president and CEO announced today.
“Ambassador Brinkhorst’s extensive experience in both politics and academia has given him a multi-faceted perspective that is an invaluable resource for APCO’s clients and adds another skillful dimension to our IAC,” said Kraus.

He was formerly a member of the advisory council of the World Resources Institute in Washington, D.C.; a member of the board of governors of the Netherlands Institute for Economics; extraordinary professor of international environmental law at Leiden University; a member of the board of directors of the International Institute of Sustainable Development; and visiting professor of international environmental law at the University of Lausanne.
Brinkhorst is on the board of directors of the Salzburg Global Seminar, originally an American institution of higher learning located in Austria. He is senior adviser to the European Space Agency and is a coordinator of the European Commission for a Trans European Railways Network.
Brinkhorst joins a distinguished set of experts on the IAC, including former Polish President Aleksander Kwasniewski; Pat Cox, former president of the European Parliament; Itamar Rabinovich, former Israeli ambassador to the United States and former president of and a member of the faculty at Tel Aviv University; and Arthur Hartman, a former U.S. ambassador to both the Soviet Union and France.
